Programming
ABB specifies IL, FBD, LD, SFC, ST and CFC programming languages for the AC500-eCo controller family. User programs can also be password protected.
Communication
Ethernet provides the onboard network interface. COM1 is an RS-485 interface supporting programming, Modbus RTU, ASCII communication and CS31 remote I/O functions.

The AC500-eCo platform permits central expansion with up to 10 I/O modules.
