ABB Harmony Sequence of Events

ABB IMSED01 Sequence of Events Digital Input Module | 16 Digital Inputs

ABB IMSED01 is a Sequence of Events Digital Input module for the Harmony controller. It processes up to 16 digital field inputs and uses the SOE digital event interface for configuration and access to its input channels.

Part Number IMSED01
Module Type Sequence of Events Digital Input
Digital Inputs Up to 16
System Harmony Controller
01 / Overview

Sequence of Events Digital Input

IMSED01 belongs to the Harmony Sequence of Events architecture and handles digital field inputs for SOE event processing.

ABB defines a Sequence of Events event as a transition of a digital signal from on to off or from off to on.

IMSED01 processes up to 16 digital field inputs. The module communicates with the Harmony controller through the I/O expander bus.

Unlike IMSET01, the IMSED01 does not process time synchronization link information. The controller uses function code 242 to configure and access its input channels.

Functional Role SOE Digital Input
Input Capacity Up to 16 digital field inputs
Controller Bus I/O Expander Bus

03 / Signal Path

Field Signal to Controller

The signal path below follows ABB's documented SOE hardware arrangement.

IMSED01 SOE Signal Architecture

Field digital signals are terminated through NTDI01 and processed by IMSED01. The module communicates with the Harmony controller through the I/O expander bus.

Digital Field Inputs Digital field signals connected to the SOE input arrangement.
NTDI01 ABB-identified termination unit for IMSED01 field wiring.

04 / Applications

Documented Application Areas

Application descriptions are limited to the functions ABB identifies for the SOE architecture.

01

Sequence of Events Monitoring

Collects transitions of digital field signals as part of the Harmony Sequence of Events system.

02

Harmony Controller I/O

Provides the digital input channel interface used by the Harmony controller's SOE function.

03

Multiple SOE Modules

Up to 63 IMSED01 modules can operate on an I/O expander bus segment along with one IMSET01 module.

04

Digital Field Signal Termination

ABB identifies NTDI01 as the termination unit associated with IMSED01 field wiring.

08 / FAQ

IMSED01 FAQ

Five product-specific questions based on ABB's documented IMSED01 architecture.

01

What is ABB IMSED01?

IMSED01 is a Sequence of Events Digital Input module for the Harmony controller and processes up to 16 digital field inputs.

02

How is IMSED01 different from IMSET01?

IMSED01 processes up to 16 digital field inputs but does not process time synchronization link information. IMSET01 additionally receives and decodes time synchronization link information.

03

Which function code is used for IMSED01?

Function code 242, the SOE digital event interface, is used by the Harmony controller to configure and access IMSED01 input channels.

04

How many IMSED01 modules can be used on an I/O expander bus segment?

ABB specifies up to 63 IMSED01 modules on an I/O expander bus segment along with one IMSET01 module.

05

Which termination unit is associated with IMSED01?

ABB identifies NTDI01 as the termination unit for field wiring associated with IMSED01.
