Bently Nevada 990-05-XX-01-CN Vibration Transmitter
The 990-05-XX-01-CN is a 2-wire, loop-powered transmitter designed for facilities transitioning from high-cost, rack-based monitoring systems. This unit bridges 3300 XL 8mm proximity probe systems directly to PLC/DCS analog input cards. By integrating Proximitor® signal conditioning into a compact 35mm DIN-rail footprint, it eliminates the space requirements and overhead of a 3500-series chassis. The transmitter outputs a standardized 4-20 mA signal, linear to either radial vibration or axial position, making it an ideal drop-in solution for basic machinery protection.
Typical applications focus on essential operational assets including centrifugal pumps, cooling tower fans, and blowers where continuous monitoring is required but full-scale machinery protection systems are cost-prohibitive. The eddy-current sensing technology is non-contacting, allowing the 990-05 to avoid mechanical wear associated with seismic sensors. This provides plant operators with real-time visibility into shaft stability and bearing degradation. Transitioning from manual periodic checks to continuous 4-20mA feedback enables automated alarm thresholding and supports predictive maintenance (PdM) strategies.
