The IC693BEM340 FIP Bus Controller Module is designed and manufactured by GE Fanuc to serve as an interface between a Series 90-30 I/O network and the system's central PLC. It is intended for installation in the same rack as the programmable logic controller and also to be fed from the same power source. Using a GE Fanuc IC693BEM340 FIP Bus Controller Module will not only allow for the communication of the I/O network to the system's central PLC, but also provide safe storage space for the field device's configuration data and serve as a centralized troubleshooting platform.
The front side of the module features 6 LEDs near the top, 2 serial ports for the FIP (Factory Instrumentation Protocol) network connections, and an additional RS-485 serial port for configuration. The IC693BEM340 Module's support for the FIP network is important because the Factory Instrumentation Protocol is an international communication system that attempts to standardize electronic industrial networking systems. It allows for the exchange of I/O data between PLCs and a wide number of field devices such as limit switches, solenoid valves, motor starters, and pressure sensors.
The GE Fanuc IC693BEM340 FIP Bus Controller Module is a central part of any automatic control platform that is using the FIP network with a Series 90-30 PLC as the main processing hardware, such as industrial applications in motion control, product packaging, and bulk handling machinery.
