Product Description
The Allen-Bradley 1788-CN2FF is a ControlNet-to-FOUNDATION Fieldbus linking device designed to connect a ControlNet™ network with one or more FOUNDATION Fieldbus H1 networks. Within this architecture, the ControlNet network consists of controllers including PLC® processors, HMIs, drives, and I/O devices. The 1788-CN2FF acts as the critical bridge enabling these ControlNet components to interface with the Fieldbus environment.
Each H1 network managed by the linking device consists of multiple Fieldbus devices. Every individual field device contains one or more function blocks, which are responsible for performing elementary control functions. These include analog input, analog output, discrete input, and discrete output operations. This modular function block structure allows for decentralized control processing directly at the field device level.
DIN Rail Mounting Installation
The linking device features a rugged, simple clip for reliable mounting on a standard 35 mm DIN rail. Follow these steps to mount the linking device:
⑴ Unlock the DIN Rail Clip: Use a flat-bladed screwdriver to open the DIN rail clip to the unlocked position.
⑵ Mount the Device: Hook the lip on the rear of the linking device onto the top of a 35 mm DIN rail and press the device down onto the rail.
⑶ Position and Lock: Slide the linking device to the desired position on the DIN rail. Push the rail snap into the locked position to secure the device in place.
Device State Definitions
STANDBY: The linking device has passed all internal self-tests and is ready to operate. The device remains in this state and is not yet functioning due to a lack of configuration.
OPERATIONAL: The linking device has exited the Standby state. The module is fully functional because the necessary network configuration has occurred, enabling active network engagement.
