CPU Compatibility
This CMOS expansion module is built for GE Series 90-70 PLCs. It is the standard memory upgrade for 771/772 CPUs and can be used in Programmable Co-Processor Modules (PCM) for logic or data expansion.
Physical Installation & Slot Usage
Operates as a daughterboard that plugs directly into the host CPU or PCM module. No extra rack slots are needed; the module occupies the same physical footprint as the base unit it supports.
Memory Allocation Logic
The module is not restricted to one data type. Users can configure the memory to hold either program logic or data storage, depending on software settings.
Power Loss & Retention Specs
Memory is kept alive by the lithium battery on the host module's base housing. Without external power, user memory is typically retained for up to 6 months.
Error Checking & Data Integrity
Program memory is verified via a continuous checksum routine. During power-up or system resets (soft/hard), the PMC automatically scans the storage memory for errors.
Configuration Software Environment
Setup is performed via MS-DOS based configuration software. While the programming terminal may run a Windows OS, the utility itself functions in a DOS environment to set memory partitions.
