The 1MRK001987-AA is a dedicated microprocessor relay designed for discrete overcurrent and ground-fault protection in MV/LV distribution networks. It utilizes true RMS sensing to maintain trip accuracy even in high-harmonic environments typical of non-linear industrial loads. The logic core supports a range of selectable IDMT (Inverse Definite Minimum Time) and definite-time (DT) curves, enabling precise selective coordination across the feeder string. By executing sub-cycle fault detection, the relay effectively limits let-through energy during phase-to-phase shorts, shielding busbar integrity and cable insulation from mechanical and thermal deformation.
From a physical integration standpoint, the unit features a compact footprint optimized for DIN-rail mounting in congested switchgear compartments. It accepts standard 1A or 5A CT secondary inputs via galvanically isolated terminals, preventing backplane surges from compromising the internal logic. Compliance with IEC 60255 ensures the hardware withstands the high vibration and EMI profiles inherent to industrial substations. The interface provides immediate diagnostic feedback for pickup and trip states, offering a "set-and-forget" solution for critical protective relaying where space constraints and high MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) are the primary engineering requirements.
