Product Description
The GE Fanuc IC697MDL240 is a 16-point isolated discrete input module for the Series 90-70 PLC. This module is rated for 120 Volts AC and includes a 20 millisecond input filter delay. Isolation design allows for connections between different AC supply phases. The reactive inputs support current-voltage characteristics for various 2-wire or 3-wire proximity switches. Top-mounted LEDs provide on/off status for each point on the PLC.
Mechanical keying is used for I/O configuration without DIP jumpers or switches. During initial installation, a mechanical key bolts to the backplane center rail. This key creates a fitting area to ensure proper module substitution during replacement. The capacitive input circuitry provides room for heat dissipation and reliability. Only similar module types can be installed once the key is in place.
Current draw is 0.25 Amps from the 5 Volts backplane bus. Typical on-state current is 10 milliamps, and the module sinks up to 4 milliamps of leakage current in the off-state. Configuration is handled through Windows or MS-DOS software via the SNP port or Ethernet TCP/IP port. The configuration function is installed on the programming device rather than the module itself.

I/O references can be configured without the use of jumpers or DIP switches, simplifying installation and maintenance.
Flexible Configuration
Configuration is performed using MS-DOS or Windows programming software running on Windows 95 or Windows NT, either via Ethernet TCP/IP or the SNP port.
Supported Programming Devices
Programming devices can be IBM® XT, AT, PS/2®, or compatible personal computers, with the configuration function installed on the device.
