MMS6418 is a dual-channel measuring amplifier for inductive displacement sensors. Channel 1 handles absolute expansion and other static or dynamic displacement-related quantities. Channel 2 is dedicated to static relative expansion.
Machine protection context Expansion values support turbine protection, condition analysis and control-system supervision on critical rotating equipment.

The two channels are not interchangeable. Replacement work must preserve the assigned sensor, range, zero position, alarm thresholds, relay behavior, channel-clear wiring and RS-485 addressing.

MMS6418 Technical FAQ
Can MMS6418 channel 1 and channel 2 use the same sensor type? No. Channel 1 is intended for PR9350 sensors; channel 2 is intended for PR6418 sensors. Their excitation, range and measurement duties differ.
Why must MMS6418 zero values be captured before replacement? Each channel has independent zero adjustment. Losing the established mechanical zero can shift displayed expansion and alarm margins even when wiring is correct.
Can MMS6418 channel 2 be used for a 100 Hz dynamic duty? No. Channel 2 is dedicated to relative expansion with a frequency range up to 10 Hz; channel 1 supports duties up to 100 Hz.
What should be checked when MMS6418 communicates locally but not over the rack bus? Check RS-485 addressing, polarity, termination, bus continuity, configuration access and the receiving system mapping.
What acceptance tests matter after installing MMS6418? Verify both sensor supplies, zero and span, movement direction, current outputs, alert and danger actions, channel-clear logic and RS-485 values.
