Product Overview

Processor & control station

The CP451 processor module provides the processing function for Yokogawa AFV10-series Field Control Units used in CENTUM VP. The field control station connects the field-control system to its configured I/O node units through ESB or ER bus interfaces.

In a dual-redundant configuration, the FCU uses two CP451 processor modules. The host unit, processor arrangement, bus interface modules and control-function software must match the installed system design.

System Configuration

FCU & node connections

The AFV10-series Field Control Unit operates as part of a Field Control Station. ESB Bus Node Units connect through EC401 bus coupler modules; ER Bus Node Units connect through EB401 interface modules.

For a dual-redundant processor arrangement, the CP451 pair and the relevant bus-interface arrangement must be configured together. Node expansion also depends on the applicable software package and system configuration.

Bus interface and configuration details

ESB bus: EC401 is installed in slots 7 and 8 when the processor modules use a dual-redundant configuration. For a single ESB configuration, install EC401 in slot 7 and leave slot 8 empty.

ER bus: EB401 is installed in an odd-numbered slot for a single configuration, leaving the slot immediately to its right empty.

Node expansion: LFS1500 is the control function for the AFV10-series FCU. LFS1550 can expand node-unit capacity beyond the base configuration.

Application & Failure Scenarios

Maintenance context

Processor replacement

Relevant when a CP451 processor is diagnosed as faulty or requires planned replacement in an AFV10-series FCU.

Redundant processor maintenance

For dual-redundant installations, confirm the active and standby module status and follow the site-approved maintenance sequence before replacing a processor.

Control station disruption

A processor fault can affect field-control execution. The resulting process impact depends on the FCU configuration, redundancy state and affected control functions.
