Source: Emerson, Machinery Health Sensor PR 9268/xxx-xxx, Absolute Vibration Transducers, Installation Guide MHM-97479 Rev. 3.9, February 2025. The ordering matrix identifies PR 9268/20x-x00 as vertical, with armored-cable and Harting-end options.
02 · SYSTEM MATCH

Compatibility & Replacement

System application: PR9268 is documented within Emerson EPRO machinery-health measurement and protection applications, including systems using the A6120 Bearing Vibration Monitor and A6500-xR System Rack documentation.
03 · APPLICATION

Application & Fault Scenarios

Critical rotating machinery

PR9268 electrodynamic transducers are intended for absolute vibration measurement on critical turbomachinery such as steam, gas and hydro turbines, compressors, pumps and fans.

Typical fault concerns: Sensor failure, damaged cable, abnormal resistance, missing vibration signal, or a failed monitoring channel. Shutdown concern: Loss of a vibration measurement channel can affect machinery monitoring or protection and should be resolved before returning the protection function to service.
04 · INSTALLATION

Mounting, Connection & Diagnostics

Mounting surface
Use a flat, clean surface and firmly tighten the mounting screws.
Mounting angle
Vertical measurement: ±30° without sinking current; up to ±60° with sinking current, with reduced accuracy without compensation.
Harting connection
For PR9268/20x-x00, resistance and signal checks use Harting pins 2 and 3.
Resistance check
1875 Ω indicates the transducer circuit condition specified by Emerson; 0 Ω indicates a short circuit and ∞ Ω a cable break.
Signal check
With the sensor disconnected from the system, gentle movement in measuring direction can generate approximately 1–2 V AC.
Repair / calibration
Emerson states that repair or calibration is only possible at Emerson.

06 · BUYER FAQ

PR9268/200-000 FAQ

Does PR9268/200-000 use an armored cable and Harting connector?
Yes. The Emerson ordering matrix identifies the PR9268/20x-x00 vertical configuration with armored-cable options, and code /200-000 corresponds to the 3 m armored cable and Harting cable-end combination.
What sensitivity should be configured for PR9268/200-000?
Emerson specifies 28.5 mV/(mm/s) ±5% for the PR9268/20x-x00 configuration at 20°C, 80 Hz and 100 kΩ load.
What mounting angle is allowed for PR9268/200-000?
The nominal direction is vertical. Emerson specifies a maximum deviation of ±30° without sinking current and up to ±60° with sinking current; measurement accuracy can be reduced without the required compensation.
How do I check a PR9268/200-000 when the vibration signal is missing?
Emerson recommends resistance, insulation-resistance and signal-generation checks. For the PR9268/20x-x00 configuration, the resistance measurement is made between Harting pins 2 and 3, and gentle movement can produce approximately 1–2 V AC.
Can the PR9268/200-000 be repaired or calibrated locally?
Emerson's installation guide states that repair or calibration of the transducer is only possible at Emerson.
