Overview

Product Introduction

IEPEP03 is the power entry panel for the ABB Bailey AC Modular Power System. It receives the cabinet AC feeds, provides branch protection, transfers between documented redundant sources and distributes power into the system power architecture.

The panel also monitors line condition and regulated bus status. Its alarm contacts support cabinet or plant annunciation, making IEPEP03 central to both power continuity and fault visibility.

System fit

Compatibility & System Boundary

01

The manufacturer instruction defines IEPEP03 as part of the AC Modular Power System with the associated power modules, mounting hardware, bus bars and cabinet wiring.

02

It monitors the four regulated system buses and two auxiliary DC inputs at the documented selectable voltage levels.

03

ABB evolution guidance treats later power-platform migration as a cabinet/system engineering activity. No direct replacement panel is claimed on this page.

04

Maintenance context

Applications & Fault Scenarios

Unexpected source transfer

The cabinet changes AC source without a scheduled utility event, requiring line-threshold, wiring and upstream protection checks.

No transfer on source loss

The alternate feed is present but the cabinet does not transfer within the documented path, creating a full-control-power risk.

Persistent bus alarm

The power modules appear normal while the panel continues to report a regulated or auxiliary bus fault.

Alarm contact mismatch

A DCS input shows inverted state because NO/NC jumper selection or open-to-alarm wiring differs from the cabinet drawing.

05

Field practice

AC Transfer, Alarm Wiring & Functional Test

Verify both sources independently

Measure and label normal and alternate feeds at the correct nominal voltage. Confirm breakers, protective earth and upstream isolation before testing transfer.

Test the complete transfer path

A transfer test should confirm detection, source change, cabinet ride-through and alarm reporting. Coordinate it as a control-system availability test, not only an electrical panel check.

Configure alarm contacts deliberately

Set NO or NC status contacts to the project logic and keep the open-to-alarm philosophy consistent. Fit suppression for inductive loads as specified.

Diagnose bus alarms from source to load

Compare the panel indication with measured bus voltage, power-module status and downstream loading. A monitor alarm does not by itself identify the failed component.

Product-specific answers

FAQ

What does IEPEP03 do in the cabinet power system?

It accepts and protects AC feeds, supports documented redundant-source transfer, distributes cabinet power and monitors regulated and auxiliary DC bus status.

How fast is the documented IEPEP03 source transfer?

The manufacturer gives a maximum transfer time of 16 ms, with input-interruption detection in the 2.3–3.2 ms range.

Which DC buses can IEPEP03 monitor?

It monitors +5, +15, −15 and +24 VDC regulated buses plus two auxiliary inputs selectable for 24, 48 or 125 VDC.

Can IEPEP03 alarm contacts be normally open or normally closed?

Yes. The status contact mode is jumper-selectable. The project logic must match the selected open-to-alarm arrangement.

What should be tested after IEPEP03 service?

Confirm both AC inputs, protective devices, transfer operation, cabinet ride-through, every monitored bus and the remote alarm indication.

What information is needed to quote IEPEP03?

Send the complete part number and revision, nominal input voltage, cabinet and power-module configuration, quantity, destination and required date.
