Field termination
Provides the termination-side signal path for analog input wiring from the process field.
Brand Name:
ABB
Model Number:
NTAI05
ABB Ability Symphony Plus · HR Series
A field-side termination point for 15 analog input signals connected to the SPFEC analog input module. This page brings the part identity, signal path, HART extension option and practical replacement checks into one purchasing view.
NTAI05 belongs at the field-termination side of an ABB Harmony / Symphony Plus analog input assembly. The installed SPFEC module and the 15-signal wiring context are the two fastest checks for a correct RFQ.
Provides the termination-side signal path for analog input wiring from the process field.
ABB identifies 15 field input signals for this termination unit.
The documented companion is the SPFEC analog input module in the HR Series.

NTAI05 is configured at the termination unit and cabled to the assigned analog input module slot. Record the installed settings before any replacement work.
XU1 through XU15 are configured for each signal's power and input type. XU17 is set for the connected module; XU16 is not used.
J1 connects to the module-mounting-unit backplane slot assigned to SPFEC12. J2 connects to P1 on the termination unit.
ABB specifies 14 AWG wiring: E1 to the +24 VDC distribution source and E2 to I/O common.
Mount the board on NFTP01 with two No. 10 thread-forming screws plus the chassis-common screw and lockwasher. Refit the safety shield before returning the assembly to service.
ABB's NHAI05 adapter provides a hardware path from signals already landed on the Harmony termination unit to a third-party input multiplexer. The multiplexer can then direct HART information to a central computer running asset or field-device applications.
One or more field inputs are missing, intermittent or unstable and the termination path is being checked alongside the SPFEC module.
A maintenance team wants the correct termination unit on site before disconnecting labeled field wiring during a shutdown window.
An installed Harmony I/O system needs a route to HART information through an adapter and third-party multiplexer.
Check cabinet air filters, cabinet and termination-unit dust, and the security of signal, power and ground connections.
Inspect the circuit board, with particular attention to power contacts and edge connectors, and clean where required.
Complete the full preventive-maintenance schedule while power and process conditions permit safe access.
ABB limits repair to termination-unit replacement. Component-level repair can affect performance and certification.

It provides the termination-side signal path between 15 analog field inputs and the SPFEC analog input module.
The user manual identifies FEC11 and FEC12, while the current Symphony Plus catalog identifies the SPFEC analog input module.
ABB specifies +24 VDC at 20 mA per input. E1 is the +24 VDC connection and E2 is I/O common, with 14 AWG wiring specified for both.
XU1 through XU15 are set for the power arrangement and input type of each signal. XU17 is configured for the connected module; XU16 is unused.
Record all dipshunt positions, isolate cabinet and field power, label field wiring and E1/E2 connections, and remove the assigned I/O module before disturbing its termination cable.
Yes, through the optional NHAI05 adapter and a third-party input multiplexer. ABB states that this path does not require rewiring the field signals already connected to the termination unit.
These models are separate sourcing references, not substitutes for NTAI05. Compatibility and stock must be confirmed independently.
