A1: The 990-16-XX-01-CN is more of a compact OEM-style solution. Instead of a full 3500 rack system, it combines Proximitor + transmitter in one unit and outputs directly as 4-20 mA loop.
In many skid packages (air compressors, small pumps, fans), engineers use it mainly to avoid extra rack hardware and wiring. Signal goes straight into PLC or DCS input, basically simpler setup and less cabinet space.
Q2: How to safely get diagnostic data from 990-16-XX-01-CN?
A2: There is a PROX OUT terminal plus a coax output for raw signal.
Q3: What does “CN” mean and what about hazardous area wiring for the 990-16-XX-01-CN?
A3: CN version is mainly for China compliance (NEPSI related approval).
For hazardous zones (0/1/2), it’s still an intrinsic safety loop design. So the 4-20 mA loop has to go through an IS barrier on the control side.
Typical field wiring is shielded twisted pair, and the shield is normally grounded at one end only. Nothing too special, but grounding practice matters a lot in noisy compressor areas.
