Hot-Swap & Maintenance Authority
Routine maintenance of established CP471 dual-redundant configurations allows for on-line user replacement. However, vertical migration from legacy CP461 architecture to the CP471-00 S1 is strictly restricted to OEM-authorized service engineers. User execution of this specific upgrade procedure is prohibited to ensure database integrity and bus timing compliance.
Hardware & Firmware Prerequisites
Valid migration requires the Control Function firmware to be updated to Version R6.05 or later. Physically, the associated ESB Bus Coupler (EC401) must be verified as Style Code S3 or higher to support the increased throughput. Backward compatibility for "downgrading" existing CP471 units to CP461 is operationally invalid and blocked.
Redundancy Topology Constraints
Heterogeneous redundancy is non-compliant; a mixed pair (CP471 + CP461) cannot coexist on the same logic plane. Migration requires a simultaneous on-line replacement of the redundant pair to CP471, ensuring atomic switchover without process interruption.
