VIBRO METER VM600 MPC4 200-510-041-021 Machinery Protection Card
Available Versions
The MPC4 card is offered in several versions including Standard, Separate Circuits, and Safety (SIL). Certain variants are also available with conformal coating for enhanced protection against chemicals, dust, moisture, and extreme temperatures.
Functional Safety Compliance
Both the Standard and Safety (SIL) versions are certified to IEC 61508 and ISO 13849, enabling use in functional safety applications such as:
- SIL 1 (IEC 61508)
- PL c (ISO 13849-1)
Standard MPC4
Original version featuring full functionality and all processing modes. Ideal for safety systems using VM600 racks with a limited card range (Standard MPC4/IOC4T and RLC16). Includes a VME-compatible slave interface, enabling software configuration via VME when a CPUx rack controller is present. Also configurable via RS-232 through the card's front panel.
Safety (SIL) MPC4 - MPC4SIL
Developed to support installations that include additional VM600 cards such as XMx16 condition monitoring cards and IRC4 relay cards. To achieve safety certification for these configurations, the MPC4SIL is isolated from other rack cards to avoid any unintended configuration changes.
Key Design Differences
- No VME-compatible slave interface
- Tachometer (speed) channels not supported
- Reduced signal processing functions compared to the Standard version
Designed for Independent Protection and Monitoring
The VM600 rack, its machinery protection cards, condition monitoring cards, and associated software are all engineered to meet the segregation requirements of API 670. These requirements ensure that the Machinery Protection System (MPS) remains fully independent from the Condition Monitoring System (CMS)—both functionally and operationally.
In practice, this means the MPS cannot be influenced, degraded, or interrupted by any CMS activity, software process, or data handling task.
Shared Sensors, Separate Systems
Even though both protection and monitoring cards can share the same sensor signals from a machine's measurement chain, the internal architecture maintains strict separation:
| MPC4 / IOC4T card pairs (MPS) do not share communication buses with XMx16 / XIO16T card pairs (CMS) inside the VM600 rack. |
This ensures that data acquisition may be common, but data processing, decision-making, and communication paths remain isolated. |
Independent Software Ecosystems
To further enforce segregation:
| MPC4 / IOC4T card pairs are configured and operated exclusively via VM600 MPSx software. |
XMx16 / XIO16T card pairs are configured and operated exclusively via VibroSight® software. |
By separating not only hardware pathways but also the configuration and runtime environments, the VM600 system ensures that safety-critical protection functions always remain deterministic, secure, and unaffected by monitoring or analysis activities.
Amikon Technologies has been in the game since 2005. In an industry where suppliers come and go, we've stuck around for 20 years. Why? Because we deliver.
We've spent two decades building a massive library of automation components so you don't have to waste time searching. Whether you are looking for a rare PLC, a robust DCS, or a specific HMI or VFD, chances are it's sitting in our warehouse right now.
We supply the full stack:
- PLCs & HMIs
- DCS & Panel Controllers
- Industrial PCs
- Variable Frequency Drives
Old parts, new parts, hard-to-find parts—we handle it all with the kind of service you'd expect from a 20-year veteran.
