Allen-Bradley 1746-P1 is a rack-mounted power supply for the SLC 500 modular controller platform. It provides the DC power required by the chassis backplane and includes an isolated 24V DC user-power output for compatible field loads.
For maintenance teams supporting installed SLC 500 equipment, identifying the exact power supply rating is an important step when sourcing a replacement unit. Check the installed catalog number, input selection and chassis requirements before ordering.

| Input Voltage Selection | Jumper selection for 100/120V or 200/240V input operation |
Set the input-voltage jumper to match the intended AC supply before energizing the unit. The installation manual identifies separate jumper positions for 100/120V and 200/240V operation.
Align the power supply circuit board with the chassis card guides on the left side, slide it into position and fasten it to the chassis.
Connect the power-supply ground screw to the nearest ground or ground bus. Incoming power wiring must be completed with power removed and in accordance with the installation instructions.
The isolated, non-fused 24V DC user output is rated at 200 mA. Rockwell Automation advises monitoring this output on applicable Malaysia-made 1746-P1 units to detect a user-output shutdown condition.
The 1746-P1 supplies the SLC 500 chassis backplane, supporting the controller and installed I/O modules. Its user-power terminals can also supply compatible 24V DC sensors and loads within the specified current capacity.
It may be investigated when an SLC 500 rack loses power, the controller stops operating, or the power supply or its 24V DC user output is suspected of malfunctioning. A failed chassis supply can interrupt controller operation and connected I/O, increasing production downtime.
Discontinued product. Rockwell Automation lists September 30, 2020 as the discontinuation date for the 1746-P1. The official lifecycle record identifies its replacement category as Engineering Replacement; it does not name a specific direct replacement model. Verify the installed system configuration before selecting an alternative.
It is an AC-input rack-mounted power supply for the SLC 500 modular controller chassis. It provides 5V DC and 24V DC backplane power, as well as a separate 24V DC user-power output.
The documented input ranges are 85–132V AC and 170–265V AC at 47–63 Hz. The input-voltage jumper must be set to match the supply voltage before power is applied.
Yes. Rockwell Automation lists September 30, 2020 as its discontinuation date. The official lifecycle category is Engineering Replacement.
Do not assume that another 1746-Px model is a direct substitute. Power ratings and input types differ across the family. Check the chassis load, input source and required output capacity before choosing a replacement.
Please provide the part number, quantity, destination, required date and machine/system model. A clear nameplate photo can also help verify the exact unit.
