Controlled Current for Eight Final Elements
SYNCHRONIZED WITH CONTROL EXECUTION
The Honeywell 900B08-0202 delivers eight analog current outputs. Each output can be scaled to a selected span within 0 to 21.0 mA. The module updates its outputs in step with control execution and supports an individual rate-of-change limit where a gradual actuator movement is required. Predictable interruption behaviorA configured failsafe value can be applied if communication between the controller and module is interrupted. This setting must be checked against the required safe position of every connected final element.

Loop Power and Termination Decisions

Power selectionA module switch selects internal 24 V backplane power or a separate external loop supply. The factory switch position is external power. External supplyExternal loop power requires 18 to 36 VDC and a capacity of 350 mA per module. Terminal hardwareThe module uses a 36-position Euro-style terminal block. Confirm the installed block and remote termination arrangement before ordering.
Rack-loading check: internal 24 V power changes the permitted module loading. Confirm the installed power arrangement and total rack demand rather than assuming every open slot can accept another analog output module.

900B08-0202 Buyer FAQ

Can 900B08-0202 use the rack supply instead of external 24 VDC? Yes. A module switch selects internal or external power, but rack loading must be recalculated before changing the setting. The shipped setting is external power, so never assume a replacement is already configured like the removed module.
Does 500 VDC isolation apply between all eight 900B08-0202 channels? No. Channels 1-4 form one group and channels 5-8 form a second group. The 500 VDC rating applies group-to-group and from the outputs to controller logic; channels inside the same group are not individually isolated.
What can cause a correct current command to fail at the field device? Check loop-power polarity, available supply voltage, total loop resistance, terminal seating and the field device input. The 750-ohm maximum is a loop limit, and available compliance must still cover cable and device voltage drops.
Which settings must be captured before replacing 900B08-0202? Record each channel span, engineering scaling, failsafe value, rate limit, calibration state and internal/external power selection. Also photograph all 36 terminal positions before disconnecting conductors.
Does output-current feedback prove the 900B08-0202 loop is healthy? It confirms that current is flowing, but it cannot prove correct actuator travel, valve direction, scaling or safe action. Commissioning should compare commanded current, measured loop current and actual field response at several operating points.
