3300 XL 8 mm Proximity Probe

A non-contact eddy-current probe designed for integration into machinery condition-monitoring systems where shaft movement and position must be measured without physical contact.

Product Overview
Eddy-current
displacement sensing

The probe forms the sensing end of a transducer chain used to monitor conductive machine targets. It is relevant to rotating equipment where vibration trends, shaft position or a reference signal contribute to condition assessment.

For replacement work, identify the installed probe from its complete ordering number and confirm that the connected extension cable and Proximitor sensor belong to an appropriate system configuration.

01 / CODE

Ordering Code Breakdown

Each code segment identifies a specific construction or connection option. Keep the segments in sequence when requesting a quotation.

System-level performance data and engineering notes

Linear measurement range: The 3300 XL 8 mm system family specifies a nominal 2 mm (80 mil) linear range, approximately 0.25–2.3 mm from the target. This is system-level performance, not a standalone guarantee for every cable/sensor combination.

Incremental scale factor: The published value for standard 1 m and 5 m systems is 7.87 V/mm (200 mV/mil) ±5% under the stated test conditions. Do not automatically apply this figure to a different total system length or mixed-component configuration.

Recommended radial vibration gap: Approximately 1.27 mm, corresponding to a Proximitor output near −9 Vdc under the specified standard system conditions.

Frequency response: The system datasheet specifies 0–10 kHz (+0/−3 dB) with up to 305 m (1,000 ft) of field wiring, subject to the stated system and wiring conditions.

Probe cable pull rating: 330 N (75 lbf) maximum rated strength from probe case to probe lead. The connector interface between probe lead and extension cable has a separate rating of 270 N (60 lbf).

Cable routing: The documented minimum bend radius is 25.4 mm (1.0 in). Avoid sharp bends and strain at the probe lead or connector during installation.

System composition: A complete 3300 XL 8 mm transducer system uses a probe, an extension cable where required, and a compatible Proximitor sensor. Overall system length is determined by the complete configuration, not the integral probe cable alone.

Interchangeability: XL components are designed for interchangeability within the specified 3300 XL 8 mm system. Mixing XL and non-XL 3300-series 5 mm or 8 mm components can limit performance to the applicable non-XL system specifications.

Application limits: Published accuracy and scale-factor figures depend on the stated target material, gap, temperature and system components. Confirm the applicable installation and approval conditions for the actual machine.

03 / FIELD USE

Application & Failure Investigation

A

Shaft vibration and position monitoring

Applied in compatible monitoring chains for fluid-film bearing machinery to track shaft movement, position changes and vibration behaviour.

B

Signal instability or loss

During fault isolation, check the sensing face, cable condition, connector seating, target condition and associated transducer components before concluding that the probe itself has failed.

C

Maintenance replacement planning

Compare the removed part number and mounting arrangement with the replacement request. Differences in thread, case geometry, cable termination or approvals may affect installation.

D

Reference and speed measurement

The 3300 XL 8 mm system family can support Keyphasor reference and speed applications when configured for the intended measurement duty.

06 / FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is the 330103-00-13-05-02-05 used for?

It is a 3300 XL 8 mm proximity probe for use in a compatible transducer system measuring conductive-target distance, including shaft position and vibration.

2. Does the 0.5 m cable mean the complete system is 0.5 m long?

No. The 0.5 m value identifies the integral probe cable. Overall system length depends on the complete probe, extension cable and Proximitor sensor arrangement.

3. What mounting thread does this version use?

This configuration uses an M10 × 1 metric thread, with 0 mm unthreaded length and a 130 mm case-length option.

4. What should be checked before replacing an installed probe?

Verify the complete ordering code, mechanical fit, connector and cable arrangement, transducer-system configuration and approval requirements. A shared product-family name alone does not establish compatibility.

5. Where can I find technical information for 330103-00-13-05-02-05?

Refer to the 3300 XL 8 mm Proximity Transducer System datasheet, publication 141194, together with the applicable installation and approval documentation. Confirm that the specifications apply to the intended system configuration.
