Discrete signal acquisition for FLEX I/O
The module is designed to bring discrete field signals into a FLEX I/O system through 16 current-sinking input channels. It mounts on a 1794 terminal base and provides field-side status indication through individual yellow input indicators.

Filter time is configured through the module's output image data. The 1794-IB16 uses separate filter-time settings for inputs 0…11 and inputs 12…15.

Input 15 provides the documented counter function. The configuration image includes counter value, counter-fast selection and counter reset fields; these counter controls are unavailable when the module is used with any series 1794-ASB or 1794-ASB2 remote I/O adapter.
Terminal-base connection
The module mounts on a 1794 terminal base. Rockwell Automation provides wiring instructions for the 1794-TB3 and 1794-TB3S terminal bases, including separate signal, power and common connections.

For installation, the manufacturer specifies positioning the terminal-base keyswitch at 2 and ensuring the Flexbus connector is fully extended before seating the module.

This module is used within FLEX I/O installations to acquire discrete field-device states. The 16-channel arrangement provides a concentrated input point for systems that need multiple discrete signals brought into the I/O architecture.
