ABB Bailey INFI 90 · Computer Interface

ABB INICT13 / INICT13A Cnet-to-Computer Transfer Module

A Cnet-to-computer transfer module used in the INICI03 computer interface architecture. ABB's documented evolution removed the separate IMMPI01 requirement found in the earlier INICT03A arrangement and later moved the host connection toward the Ethernet-based SPIET800 platform.

04 / Product Introduction

The transfer stage in a later ICI03 host interface

The exact installed marking may appear as INICT13 or the documented order variant INICT13A. Include the full faceplate information in the RFQ and confirm the companion INNIS21 before planning a change.

01

Host-data transfer

Provides the computer-facing transfer function for process data, status and commands.

02

Simplified hardware path

Compared with INICT03A, the INICT13-based design does not require a separate IMMPI01 module.

03

Network companion

ABB documents INNIS21 as the network-interface module required in the ICT13-based ICI03.

02 / Interface Architecture

Fewer modules than the earlier INICT03A design

ABB's evolution plan shows a clear architecture change: the older interface used INICT03A with IMMPI01; the INICT13A design eliminates that separate MPI card and requires INNIS21 for the control-network connection.

01

Earlier arrangement

INICT03A combines with IMMPI01 to provide the computer-transfer path.

02

INICT13A arrangement

The later transfer module does not require the separate MPI card.

03

Required network side

INNIS21 remains part of the ICT13-based ICI03 interface and must be included in fault isolation.

03 / Compatibility & Migration

Two documented stages: INICT03A to INICT13A to SPIET800

ABB material supports an ordered migration story. The first step simplifies the legacy serial interface; the later step moves the computer connection to Ethernet. Neither should be treated as a blind one-card substitution.

01

Earlier interface

INICT03A used a separate IMMPI01 module in the documented computer-interface arrangement.

02

INICT13A stage

ABB's later ICI03 design uses INICT13A with INNIS21 and removes the separate MPI requirement.

03

Ethernet evolution

ABB lifecycle material points the computer-interface function toward SPIET800; this is a system migration, not a one-card exchange.

04 / Diagnostic & Purchase Checks

Separate a host-side problem from a Cnet-side problem

The interface joins two very different domains. Check status and communication on both sides before deciding that the transfer module is the failed item.

1Read the exact model suffixCapture INICT13 or INICT13A and any revision or repair label visible on the unit.
2Check INNIS21A network-interface fault can produce the same loss of host data as a transfer-module fault.
3Record the host pathIdentify the connected host, cable/termination hardware and software interface.
4Define the migration targetFor SPIET800 projects, document Ethernet, OPC or host-software requirements before selecting hardware.
06 / Applications & Fault Scenarios

Typical INICT13 sourcing and maintenance situations

01

Computer interface offline

The host stops receiving Cnet data or responding to transfer-module status.

02

Legacy interface simplification

A site is replacing an INICT03A plus IMMPI01 arrangement with the documented INICT13A design.

03

Ethernet migration planning

The plant is evaluating SPIET800 as the later ABB evolution path for the legacy computer interface.

09 / FAQ

INICT13 questions from buyers and maintenance teams

What is ABB INICT13 used for?

It provides the Cnet-to-computer transfer function in the later ICI03 interface architecture.

Why is ABB INICT13A shown with ABB INICT13?

ABB evolution documents identify the order variant as INICT13A. The complete installed marking should be supplied when requesting a spare.

Which network module is required with ABB INICT13?

ABB documents INNIS21 in the ICT13-based ICI03 computer interface.

Does ABB INICT13 require an IMMPI01 module?

No. ABB states that the ICT13-based interface does not require the separate MPI module used with INICT03A.

What migration path is documented for ABB INICT13?

ABB first documents INICT03A plus IMMPI01 moving to INICT13A, and later lifecycle material points the computer-interface function toward SPIET800.

What should be checked before replacing ABB INICT13?

Confirm the exact suffix, INNIS21 status, host cable and termination, installed host software and the configuration needed to restore the interface.
