The GE Fanuc IC697BEM713 module is a bus transmitter module from Series 90-70. It allows system expansion from the main rack when additional modules are needed, supporting up to seven additional IC697 PLC racks. The module also provides a parallel interface for use by a programming device and occupies one slot in the rack.
There are two connectors: the top connector interfaces with a programming device, while the bottom connector allows for daisy-chain configuration to expansion racks through bus receiver modules. The IC697BEM713 requires 5 Volts DC from the system backplane and draws 1.4 Amps.
The programmer interface supports a data rate of 500 kilobytes per second with a maximum cable length of 50 feet, and the expansion interface has the same specifications. The module can be installed in any slot in the main rack except slot 1, which is reserved for the CPU. The rack power should be turned off prior to installation and can be turned on after the module is installed.
The Bus Transmitter Module (BTM) enables expansion from the main CPU rack when more modules are needed than the CPU rack can hold. It supports expansion to a maximum of 7 additional IC697 PLC racks and provides a high-performance parallel interface for programming devices.
The module occupies one slot and features two connectors: the top connector attaches to the programming device, while the bottom connector allows a daisy-chained configuration through Bus Receiver Modules to expansion racks. Three green LEDs provide status indication for each port and the module itself.
The BTM must be configured into the IC697 PLC system using the MS-DOS or Windows programming software configuration function, ensuring proper integration and operation within the system.
Top LED (MODULE OK)
Lights ON when the CPU software completes its power-up configuration of the BTM and has polled (or attempted to poll) all expansion racks in the system. It is OFF if any of these conditions are not met.
Middle LED (Programmer Port Enabled)
Indicates the Programmer Port Active status. This LED is ON or blinking when the programmer and PLC are communicating. It is OFF when there is no communication. Note that this port is not used for communications between the Windows programmer and the PLC.
Bottom LED (Expansion Port Enabled)
Shows the status of the expansion bus. The LED is ON or blinking when the BTM communicates with Bus Receiver Modules through the parallel I/O bus link. It is OFF when no communication is occurring.
