Product Description
The IC670PBI001 is a Profibus interface unit from the GE Fanuc Field Control series. This module mounts on a Bus Interface Unit (BIU) terminal block and operates with an external 24 V DC power supply. It enables Field Control I/O modules to communicate with GE CPUs over a Profibus network, supporting high-speed distributed I/O architecture.
The unit features two 9-pin D-shell connectors: one serves as a Hand-Held Programmer (HHP) port for downloading and monitoring, while the other functions as the Profibus network interface. The network port supports standard Profibus data rates ranging from 9.6 Kbits to 12 Mbits and requires shielded twisted-pair cabling such as Belden #9463, compatible with linear or daisy-chain Profibus topologies with proper termination.
A single IC670PBI001 unit can support up to eight Field Control I/O modules. The unit operates when mounted on the BIU terminal block, which supports DIN-rail mounting and panel mounting via integrated tabs. Profibus node addressing is configured using an 8-position DIP switch array, allowing address settings from 00 to 32. The terminal block design enables module removal or replacement without disturbing wiring or requiring control station reconfiguration.
