The CM3201 Communication Module provides direct one-to-one interface connectivity to main processors, enabling seamless communication with external host computers, distributed control systems (DCS), and open networks. This versatile module also supports network printers, other Trident v2 systems, and Tricon version 9-10 systems for comprehensive cross-platform data sharing.
Connectivity Features
Each CM3201 operates independently with three serial ports supporting RS-232 or RS-485 standards, plus two Ethernet ports per module. This flexible port configuration enables simultaneous management of multiple communication paths for both serial-based devices and Ethernet networks.
Scalability and Redundancy
A single Trident controller supports up to two Communication Modules installed on one CM baseplate. Dual CM configuration provides either redundant communication links for enhanced reliability or additional independent communication ports when expanded connectivity is required, improving system availability while maintaining network simplicity.
Serial Port Protocols
Modbus Master (RTU)
Modbus Slave (ASCII or RTU)
These protocols facilitate seamless integration with traditional industrial devices and systems that utilize serial communication standards.
Network Port Protocols
TSAA (UDP/IP)
TSAA with IP Multicast (UDP/IP)
TriStation
Peer-to-Peer (UDP/IP)
Peer-to-Peer (DLC)
Modbus Master or Slave (TCP)
Triconex Time Synchronization via UDP/IP
SNTP Triconex Time Synchronization
JetDirect Network Printer Server
DLC/LLC
This comprehensive protocol support enables communication with networked controllers, time servers, printers, and various industrial automation systems, making the CM3201 exceptionally versatile.
