Triconex 3805H Analog Output Module
The Triconex 3805H is a high-availability Analog Output Module engineered for SIL 3 safety-critical applications within the Tricon TMR (Triple Modular Redundancy) platform. It utilizes a triplicated architecture where three independent output circuits are hardware-voted to drive a single 4-20mA field loop. This design ensures that a hardware fault in any single branch—whether in the microprocessors or the output drivers—is mitigated by the remaining two paths, preventing both "fail-to-danger" scenarios and nuisance process trips. The module's deterministic logic maintains precise control over final control elements even during internal transient faults.
Field-side signal integrity is managed through continuous loopback diagnostics and real-time output current monitoring. Each of the 8 isolated channels employs independent feedback paths to verify that the actual current delivered to the load matches the safety logic's demand. The 3805H incorporates high-tier galvanic isolation to decouple the internal system bus from field-side electrical noise and surges. Furthermore, the module supports Online Module Replacement (OMR) and hot-spare configurations, allowing technicians to swap hardware without de-energizing the loop or compromising the Process Safety Time (PST).
