Tbus Extension with TMR Voting Logic The T3310 functions as a low-latency physical layer bridge, propagating triplicated Tbus signals across expanded chassis while maintaining electrical integrity of differential pairs. This ensures the Trusted controller's hardware-based voting remains deterministic. Timing precision is critical - any signal propagation skew can cause "Module Missing" or "Bus Fault" errors on remote I/O racks.
10m Copper Tbus Distance Limit The 10-meter constraint addresses EMI immunity and signal propagation delay requirements. In ICS Triplex environments, Tbus scan cycles are extremely tight. Exceeding 10m on copper risks inter-symbol interference and CRC errors. For longer distances, the T3310 must interface with fiber optic converters to overcome electrical noise and attenuation issues.
Hot-Swapping Capability Technically possible with redundant bus topology. However, in single-cable Tbus configurations, removing the T3310 will instantly isolate all downstream I/O modules. The Trusted controller will detect communication loss to the entire expander rack, forcing points into pre-configured fail-safe states without crashing the main processor.
Power-Up Sequence Requirements No specific sequence for the T3310 itself, but the expander chassis backplane must be powered (24V DC) for T3310 initialization. If the main controller attempts to poll Tbus before the remote T3310 is online, bus synchronization errors may occur requiring manual reset of the controller's I/O tree.
Activity LED Diagnostics Erratic flashing indicates corrupted packets or high retry rates on Tbus, while rhythmic strobe signifies healthy TMR data exchange. Jittery LED behavior signals physical layer issues - poor termination, loose 9-pin connections, or localized RFI interference affecting differential signal reconstruction.
Mixed Generation Compatibility The T3310 is transparent to module types with Tbus-compliant backplanes. However, mixing legacy ICS hardware with modern Trusted racks requires careful attention to Tbus signaling versions. Incompatibility typically manifests as intermittent bus resets rather than total failure.
