The 1756-CN2RXT is a high-availability, redundant-media bridge designed for the ControlNet protocol. This module implements a strict traffic prioritization hierarchy:
- Primary Priority: Deterministic I/O updates and controller-to-controller interlocking
- Secondary Priority: Non-scheduled messaging, program uploads, and firmware downloads
Connection Management
- Total Capacity: 131 logical connections
- Partitioning: 128 dedicated Logix connections + 3 permanently reserved for redundancy synchronization
- Operational Note: The 3 redundancy-specific connections remain active even during idle states to ensure immediate failover readiness
Physical Layer & I/O Interface
- Network Media: Dual BNC ports supporting redundant 1786-RG6 quad-shield coaxial cabling
- Throughput: Fixed 5 Mbps ControlNet signaling rate
- Local Configuration: One USB 1.1 Full Speed (12 Mbps) port for local commissioning/bridging
