The operating mode is selected through the measuring-range modules on the SM 431 and the measurement-type parameters in STEP 7. Each measuring-range module serves a pair of channels; the physical selector position and software configuration must therefore be planned together.
In SIMATIC S7-400 installations, this module receives analog process signals from field instrumentation. Its measurement capabilities are relevant to systems that monitor process variables through voltage and current transmitters, resistance sensors, resistance thermometers and thermocouples. These inputs can form part of machine feedback, temperature supervision and process monitoring functions.
AMIKON works with industrial maintenance and procurement teams to source automation and control-system components. From part-number identification to order communication and shipment coordination, our focus is on practical support for industrial supply requirements.

The documented sensor types include voltage and current signals, resistance sensors, Pt100/Pt200/Pt500/Pt1000 and Ni100/Ni1000 resistance thermometers, and thermocouple types B, E, J, K, L, N, R, S, T and U.
Yes. The documented current ranges include 4–20 mA. Both 2-wire and 4-wire current transducers are supported; 2-wire transmitters require a 24 V DC supply at the L+ and M front-connector terminals.
The measuring-range modules on the hardware and the measuring-type parameters in STEP 7 determine the measurement setup. Adjacent channels have specified pairing restrictions, so the hardware positions and software parameters must be checked together.
The module supports configurable diagnostics, diagnostic interrupts, limit alarms and hardware interrupts. It also provides INTF and EXTF fault LEDs, and configurable checks including wire break, reference-channel error, underflow and overflow.
