The 128-point capacity refers to the supported I/O architecture, not a guarantee that every possible combination of installed modules is suitable. Confirm the exact adapter catalog number, installed series and system configuration when sourcing a replacement.

Network and I/O architecture: The adapter interfaces FLEX I/O modules with a ControlNet processor or scanner. Individual modules or module groups can participate in ControlNet real-time data connections.

Module arrangement: Up to eight terminal base units with installed FLEX I/O modules can form one adapter-based FLEX I/O assembly. Different I/O types and termination styles can be combined within the supported platform.

Diagnostics: The I/O Status, Comm A and Comm B indicators provide visual status information for the I/O assembly and network communication.

Module handling: The product feature description supports insertion and removal of FLEX I/O modules under backplane power. This does not mean that network cabling or field wiring can be disconnected under power in every application.

Installation environment: The unit is open-style equipment intended for indoor installation in an enclosure suitable for the actual environmental and electrical conditions.

Grounding and handling: The adapter is grounded through the DIN rail. The manufacturer specifies a suitable zinc-plated, chromate-passivated steel DIN rail and electrostatic-discharge precautions during handling.

Electrical and environmental ratings: The values above are manufacturer-published ratings for the 1794-ACN15. They should not be substituted with specifications for the redundant-media 1794-ACNR15 or other variants.

Applications & Failure Scenarios

Distributed FLEX I/O stations Connects installed FLEX I/O modules to a ControlNet-based PLC or scanner architecture in industrial automation equipment.
Network communication interruption An adapter or network fault can interrupt the exchange of I/O data between the controller and the affected I/O station. Depending on the control strategy, this can stop a machine sequence or require the process to enter its configured fault state.
Adapter replacement during maintenance When a suspected adapter fault affects production, matching the catalog number and confirming power, network connections and the installed I/O arrangement can help avoid sourcing errors and prolonged downtime.
