Product Description
The T8800 Digital Input Field Termination Assembly (FTA) provides termination for up to 40 input channels from various field devices that generate digital inputs. The field supply is derived from dual 24 V DC feeds, which are commoned via diodes on the FTA. A green LED indicates the presence of the power supply, which is then distributed to each channel. The supply to the field is limited by a 50 mA fuse, protecting the field loop from overcurrent.
Digital signals from the field devices are fed directly to the digital input module. Line monitoring components, if required, provide thresholds to detect the status of the field loop or device, such as open/short circuits or alarms. The FTA ensures reliable signal conditioning and protection for the connected input module.
The 40-channel connection between the input module and the FTA is terminated at the 96-way socket SK1. SmartSlot (Version 1) signals from the module are connected via SK1, while the SmartSlot connector SK2 (also a 96-way socket) is not used in SmartSlot Version 2 systems. Dual DC field power supplies connect to the FTA through a 5-way terminal block (PWR TB), and the 40 field input signals are connected via 2-wire arrangements terminated on twelve 3-way terminal blocks and two 2-way terminal blocks.
