The ABB IMSET01 Sequence of Event Time Keeper Module plays a critical role in distributed event monitoring within the Harmony system. Understanding its position in the broader SOE framework helps clarify why its precise timing and event capture capabilities are essential for industrial control systems.
Harmony Sequence of Events System Overview
Harmony Sequence of Events (SOE) provides distributed event monitoring, recording, and reporting capabilities for the Symphony™ Enterprise Management and Control System. An SOE event represents a digital signal transition (on-to-off or off-to-on). Multiple SOE modules collaborate to collect and time-stamp these transitions, making comprehensive event data available throughout the system.
Module Structure and Configuration
Each SOE module consists of a single printed circuit board that occupies one slot in a module mounting unit (MMU). Configuration of the module and its I/O channels is accomplished through jumpers and switches on the circuit board, supplemented by jumpers and disphunts on the termination unit.
Connection Architecture
A dedicated cable connects the SOE module to its termination unit, where all field wiring connection points are located. This separation maintains organized field wiring and simplifies installation and maintenance procedures.
The IMSET01 Sequence of Events Timing module processes up to 16 digital field inputs and receives/decodes time synchronization link information from the INTKM01 module for Harmony controllers. The controller utilizes function code 241 (DSOE data interface) to transfer SOE data from the IMSET01 to the INSEM01 module, and function code 242 (SOE digital event interface) to configure and access IMSET01 input channels.
Each channel features optical isolation and can be individually programmed for 24 VDC, 48 VDC, 125 VDC, and 120 VAC input compatibility. The module communicates with its Harmony controller via the I/O expander bus, with only one IMSET01 module permitted per I/O expander bus segment. This design ensures reliable data handling and dedicated communication for time-critical event recording.
The module cable interfaces with NTST01 and NTDI01 termination units. The NTST01 provides termination for time synchronization links, while the NTDI01 handles field wiring termination, completing the comprehensive signal and timing interface for the Harmony system.
