Allen Bradley 1757-SRM System Redundancy Module
The 1757-SRM is an Allen-Bradley ProcessLogix and ControlLogix module designed for implementing controller redundancy to increase process system availability. This is achieved by employing a secondary controller synchronized with a primary controller installed on two different ControlLogix chassis.
When implementing a redundant controller system, two identical ControlLogix chassis must be installed. The chassis size, installed modules and positioning, system power supply, and module revisions should match each other to qualify the redundant controller setup. One chassis operates as the primary while the other serves as the secondary chassis.
The 1757-SRM features a Fiber Optic port that connects to a 62.5/125-micron multi-mode fiber-optic cable with SC connector. The other end of the cable connects to the partner 1757-SRM installed on the other ControlLogix chassis, serving as the synchronization link between modules and the entire secondary rack.
The 1757-SRM is a two-slot module with a module status display that indicates text codes representing the module's operational status. The PRI LED informs users which chassis within the pair operates as the primary chassis. The COM LED represents communication and synchronization status, while the Health status LED indicates whether the module is performing self-tests, has experienced critical failure, or is operating normally.
