A rare sensor for our robotic arm was impossible to find locally, but Amikon tracked it down globally and had it delivered in two days, saving the project from a huge delay.
During a factory upgrade, Amikon supplied all PLC and DCS modules we needed, and even advised on the layout to make commissioning faster and reduce mistakes.
One of our servo drives failed in the middle of an assembly run, and Amikon coordinated overnight shipping plus support, so production was back online within hours.
The Bently Nevada 146031-02 works with the 3500/22M TDI. Rear side module, 3500/22M Fiber Optic I/O type. Mostly for communication. In many projects, if the rack connects to System 1 condition monitoring software, this module handles the data path through fiber optic Ethernet communication. Machine data, transient signals, things like that. For plants already doing machinery condition monitoring, this part is pretty familiar.
The idea is actually simple. The 146031-02 I/O Module sits on the communication side, while protection stays separate inside the Bently Nevada 3500 rack. So even when the fiber link is interrupted, it usually does not mean protection is gone. We see this setup a lot with 3500/40M proximitor monitor and 3500/42M displacement monitor applications for critical asset protection on industrial rotating machinery. Turbines, compressors, that type of equipment.
For connection, the 146031-02 uses an MT-RJ multi-mode fiber connection. The module side is MT-RJ male, so field engineers normally prepare an MT-RJ female patch cord. Pretty standard if the site already uses fiber. Distance is around 2000 m. In power plant instrumentation, many engineers still prefer fiber because interference is usually less troublesome.
Yes. Fairly common, actually. The Bently Nevada 146031-02 is often found in API 670 compliant protection systems, especially around steam turbine monitoring and centrifugal compressor protection jobs. Since it supports high-speed data collection, some plants include it as part of a wider predictive maintenance system. Also a model customers ask for when sourcing Bently Nevada spare parts.
Usually this module is paired with the front 3500/22M TDI. For other 3500 monitoring system spares, no special issue in most setups. If somebody removes the 146031-02, the link to System 1 condition monitoring software may stop for a short period. Monitoring data pauses. Rack protection itself, usually still there, though exact behavior depends a bit on site setup.
